DABOUKI PROJECT
FOUR DIFFERENT STYLES OF DABOUKI FROM MY FAMILY'S 50 YEAR OLD VINEYARD

THE STORY OF ARI ERLE and THE ANCIENT DABOUKI GRAPE
Indigenous Grape, 50 Year Old, Family Vineyard, 4 Natural Wine Styles
Sixty seven years ago, as a young boy, Sami Aroyo arrived at the Givat Nili Moshav from Turkey. Planting a Dabouki vineyard with his father in 1972, his family joined the winemaking renaissance lead by the Baron DeRothschild. But the history of the Dabouki Grape is far older than the modern state of Israel. As researchers have recently discovered, the Dabouki is one of Israel's ancient, native varieties, having grown wild in the land for thousands of years. Preserved by Muslim empires as a table grape, this one of a kind series returns the Dabouki to its origins as a flavorful white wine, made in four different wine styles. The ancient Dabuki grape and my family’s vintage vineyards have given me a canvas to express my creativity and craftsmanship, honed over the last 18 years in the wine industry.
About the Wine Grower
Born and raised in Northern California, near Napa Valley, winegrower Ari Erle moved to Israel after High School and was drafted to the Paratrooper Brigade. After finishing a Bachelors degree in political science from Hebrew University he studied winemaking at the University of California Davis and earned a degree from the Napa Valley College. Mentored by some of Napa Valley’s most skilled winemakers, Ari works at the cutting-edge of the Israeli wine industry.
A Four-Part Masterpiece
I invite you to join me in savoring four variations of the ancient Israeli Dabouki grape. Each of these wines is a different creation from the same history and source, displaying the infinite possibilities in wine and life. The Rorschach on the label, designed by MarketBlend, celebrates the artistry of this special wine series.
